Learn how to set up analyses in Chat and configure them for your specific needs.
Overview
This guide covers:
Initiating Analyses from Chat
To start an analysis, simply ask Orion a question in Chat. Orion will automatically determine whether your question requires a Quick Chat response or a Deep Analysis. You don’t need to manually choose a mode—just chat naturally with Orion.
For questions that require new research, Orion will enter Deep Analysis mode and guide you through the setup process.
The Analysis Setup Process
When your question triggers a Deep Analysis, Orion follows a structured setup process:
1. Clarifying Questions Phase
Orion will ask follow-up questions to fully understand your needs. This is your opportunity to:
- Expand on your initial question
- Add important context
- Clarify specific requirements
- Provide additional details that will improve the analysis
Don’t rush this phase—the more context you provide upfront, the better your final insight will be.
2. Review Deep Analysis Draft
After gathering information through clarifying questions, Orion generates a Deep Analysis draft that breaks down all the steps it will take to complete your analysis.
Review the deep analysis draft that Orion has created for this particular analysis before telling Orion to start the analysis. This ensures you’re aligned on the approach and gives you a chance to request any changes before Orion begins the 30-45 minute analysis process.
3. Confirming to Start
Unlike Quick Chat, Deep Analysis won’t start automatically. You need to verbally tell Orion to begin:
- “Start the analysis”
- “Begin the insight”
- “Let’s do it”
- “Start the insight”
Be explicit so Orion knows you’re ready to proceed.
4. Processing & Notification
Once you confirm:
- Deep Analysis typically takes 30-45 minutes
- You’ll receive an email notification approximately 30 minutes later when your insight is complete
- You can close the chat and continue other work while Orion processes
- The completed insight will be available in your project
You don’t need to wait around. Once you’ve confirmed the analysis to start, you can close the chat and continue with other work. Orion will email you when the insight is ready—typically around 30 minutes later.
Setting Analysis Scope and Depth
During the clarifying questions phase, Orion will ask about:
- The scope of your analysis
- What data sources to use
- Specific requirements or constraints
- The depth of investigation needed
Provide as much detail as possible to help Orion understand exactly what you need.
Best Practices
- Answer clarifying questions thoroughly: Take your time during the Q&A phase. The more context you provide upfront, the better aligned your final insight will be with what you need
- Review the deep analysis draft: Before telling Orion to start the analysis, review the deep analysis draft that Orion has created for this particular analysis to ensure the approach matches your expectations
- Be strategic about timing: Since Deep Analysis takes 30-45 minutes, consider batching related questions together or starting an analysis before a break
